Automation

As AI tools and coding languages become more adept at handling complex queries, there will be a number of processes and functions within a business that can be automated, rather than using a human worker.

This must be done extremely carefully – for example, it might seem like a cost effective idea to replace your Customer Service team with an AI chatbot, but when people ask it questions that it’s not capable of answering, and they can’t get through to someone – they’re not just going to go quietly, question unanswered – they’re going to raise a fuss, and potentially destroy your reputation online.

Knowing what your team are doing, and the processes they’re using, and whether any or all parts of the job can be automated is essential knowledge before you start making changes.

Harnessing Big Data

Companies generate a huge amount of data every day, and this information can be an absolute gold mine for your company. You can learn everything about your customers shopping habits, your competitors’ actions, and even what products are likely to be the next ‘big thing’ from the data you’re collecting on a regular basis.

But, in order to use this data, you need to have channels set up to collect it, sort it, and make use of it – the initial cost of setting this up can seem daunting, especially if you don’t have an in-house team capable of taking care of it; but with the right tools and team, the benefits of using this data are enormous.

It’s important to know what you want to look for, how you plan on using it, and where you will store the information, so you can be as effective as possible.

Handling Digital Disruption

As companies become more reliant on technology to operate their businesses, they become more at risk of catastrophic failure should that technology fail, or the internet / access go down.

It’s vital that all information and data is backed up on a regular basis, and there are plans in place for operations, so that if there is disruption of some kind (this could be anything from internet outage to a DDoS attack, etc) you are prepared to continue working.

At the end of the day, modern technology has vastly improved the way in which businesses are able to operate and allowed for even small companies to take their offerings global – but challenges of integrating modern technology in business still currently remain. It’s important that regular checks and evaluations are done, in order to keep things running smoothly, and your company able to perform at its best.
